The George Benson LGB30 Ibanez features a hollow body crafted from solid spruce and flame maple, offering superb tones, excellent projection, and stunning aesthetics. Its spruce top provides this Guitar with a broad dynamic range, accommodating a wide variety of playing styles. Combined with flame maple, players can achieve a clear, defined upper midsection and a high-end sparkle, with a balanced low-end response ideal for chiming chords and super bright lead patterns. For added acoustic projection, a duo of classic 'F' sound holes are also featured on the maple soundboard, providing a classic look that many guitarists associate with the 1950s era.
As well as providing a resonant body with comfortable contours, a three-piece mahogany/maple neck is also incorporated for added comfort and an enhanced tone. This three-piece neck is mounted with a bound ebony fingerboard with acrylic block inlays. Ebony is a great choice for fingerboards, as its natural smoothness reduces finger fatigue, ideal for fast playing styles, and provides the perfect platform for percussive styles such as tapping or hammer-ons. It’s bound edges allow for a smooth play and fluid hand flexibility across the whole neck.
The set of Super 58 pickups help to bring out the natural tones of the guitar woods, providing a wonderfully resonant playing experience. Clean and warm sounds are this guitar's natural territory, offering an authentic 'jazz-box' experience with excellent dynamics and plenty of depth. However, when pushing the overdrive a little more, the bridge pickup is perfectly capable of some biting blues tones, whilst the neck pickup will allow for some tasty R'n'B licks.
The LGB30 includes Ibanez’s ART-1 bridge with the LBG33 tailpiece, providing the George Benson signature with excellent tuning stability, incredible string resonance transfer, and an effortlessly cool aesthetic. The sure-grip control knobs provide a refined feel whilst the wood-shaded pickguard adds to its good looks. A bone nut aids in sustain, whilst gold coloured hardware completes the vintage appearance. All in all, the LGB30 has a classy aesthetic and fortunately its tone and playability match up to its stunning style.
