Key Features
Product Ref: 95401
The centrepiece of the Cwejman AP-1 Audio Processor is the integrated mic and instrument inputs, allowing you to process everything from electric guitars to condenser microphones. The built-in +48V Phantom Power is included and required when processing professional condenser microphones, allowing you to incorporate studio-grade vocal/instrument records into your modular setup. It also includes a preamp section, envelope compressor/opto compressor complete with a range of versatile connectivity. It is ideal for a range of applications from incorporating vocals and instruments into your modular setup, to processing signals through the compressor for improved audio performance and changing tones.
The preamps section of the AP-1 module is comprised of a low-noise/high-speed gain booster, providing adequate levels for the opto compressor. The preamp helps to drive the mic/instrument inputs for improved audio fidelity and performance. The mic amps provide an expanded gain range of 1 to 71dB, making it ideal for a range of input sources, even weaker signals such as those from ribbon or dynamic microphones. The two-position Phantom Power switch, allows you to toggle Phantom Power on/off. This is required to power high output level condenser microphones. The instrument amp provides you with a gain range up to 65dB, ideal for high impedance sources such as electric guitars, piezo-transducers and more.
The AP-1 Audio Processor also boasts a built-in envelope follower, designed to extract the amplitude of the amplified signal to DC signals, providing control of the opto compressor. The envelope follower boasts Attack, Time, Release Time and HP/LP filter controls, which can be used manually to dial in the correct amount required for each parameter. The opto Compressor is based around an opto-electric device, as well as the. low-noise/high-speed gain booster. The gain reduction is controlled via the extracted DC signal form the envelope follower. Turning up the compression sets the strength of the input signal. It ranges from soft-knee compressor all the way to the extreme. The opto compressor boasts a 15dB make-up gain range for added flexibility. The compressor also features side-chaining capabilities, coupled to the envelope followers input filter, ensuring the compressor is less sensitive to filter signals .
The ergonomic layout features a wide range of precision attenuators and two-position switches, allowing you to enable/disable certain modes as well as turning on the built-in Phantom Power. The top of the module features a 8-segment LED meter, providing visual monitoring for your compression levels. The faceplate features an XLR and 1/8-inch instrument input. It also features a range of additional connectivity including outputs for both audio and the envelope follower. It also includes CV connectivity for Attack and Release parameters.
