32-bit floating technology and Zoom's flagship preamps
The Zoom M4 MicTrack utilises cutting-edge 32-bit floating-point technology to ensure clip-free recording no matter the sound source. Compared to other recorders with 24-bit audio, 32-bit floating point provides extra headroom that will adjust to your sound source to ensure the best possible audio fidelity each and every time. Designed for musicians and filmmakers, the M4 provides four-tracks to use with the powerful X/Y mic capsule design that capture immersive stereo sound.
Equipped with two XLR/TRS inputs, the M4 incorporates the same pro-grade, low-noise preamps found in Zoom's flagship F-series recorders, so you can utilise external studio-grade mics on the go. The shock-mounted X/Y mics features a honeycomb-style enclosure and a glossy finish which minimises handling noise for clean and clear sound. It also features an onboard 'Normalize' function that will automatically raise/lower the volume of your recordings to the optimal level, saving time when it comes to post production.
Built-in timecode generator and monitoring
Designed with musicians and videographers in mind, the M4 features an onboard timecode generator. Timecode generators are used to keep audio and visuals perfectly in sync, so you get professional results without having to re-align each file when it comes to post production. The M4 deliver pin-point accuracy with prof-grade .2ppm accuracy.
Monitor your sound in real-time using the built-in headphone output and the onboard LCD screen. The headphone output provides zero-latency monitoring for your incoming audio signal, accompanied by an onboard speaker for quick referencing on location. The crisp LCD screen provides real-time waveform display, providing visual feedback at a glance.
12-hour battery life and onboard controls
Suitable for even the most demanding recording sessions, the M4 boasts an impressive battery life of up to 18 hours whilst recording. You can even control it from up to 5 metres away using the Zoom RC4 remote control (not included). onboard controls make it easy to record and access different settings and modes as well as a built-in low-pass filter for removing unwanted rumble and background noise. The onboard transport controls make it easy to skip between takes, as well as play or pause your sound. You can even zoom in/out when looking at the LCD screen using the dedicated buttons.
Pre-record and built-in audio interface
Never miss the action again thanks to the inclusion of 'PreRecord'. The PreRecord function will capture and save six seconds of audio before you hit record, making it ideal for unexpected starts. The M4 also features a built-in speaker for quick and easy referencing of your recordings. Connect the M4 to your computer via the USB port to use it as a 32-bit float, 4-in/2-out audio interface – perfect for musicians on the move.
