The Buffet Crampon Flute has a long and impressive lineage which can be traced right back to Theobald Boehm, the most influential figure in the development of the modern concert flute, and whose experiments with acoustical design led to his work with Rudall, Rose, and Carte. Working at Rudall, Rose, and Carte was Albert Cooper who reworked Boehm's original calculations to the new tuning standard of A=440Hz (commonly known as the Cooper Scale), soon adopted as the international standard.
