Key Features
The Doepfer A-117 is a digital noise source and 808 source. This module has two sections. The first is a random voltage source which generates random clock pulses. The rate can be controlled with a knob and be turned up into audio levels to create noise. The second section is made up of two 808 style sound outputs. Doepfer are well known for introducing the Eurorack standard in 1996 with the A-100 modular system. Their modules are renowned for their functionality and affordability.

The A-117 has a noise generator that can work as random clock or a noise generator. This is a simple but powerful function. A knob controls the rate which at its lowest setting generates slow random pulses - perfect for triggering ADSR or other modules that use triggers. At the highest setting these random pulses will merge into noise. This can be used to create percussion sounds or used with a sample and hold module to introduce more controlled randomness to your patches. The rate of the noise generator can be synchronised to an external clock as well.
The A-117 has a second section which has two 808 style noise outputs. The first is a 6 oscillator mix that sounds like the cymbal sound from the 808. The second is a 2 oscillator mix which is a similar sound to the cowbell from the 808. These are full digital oscillators which authentically captures the tonal quality of Roland's 808 or 606 drum machines.
