Regarded for their unique and aggressive tonality, Soviet filter chips were used to create gritty and distorted sounds straight from the source. Its unique design has been utilised to great effect by ELTA Music to create this desktop filtering powerhouse. This stereo multi-mode filter features four varying filter modes comprised of Low Pass, High Pass, Band Pass and Notch settings. One of the things that sets the POLYVOX PF3 apart from standard filters is the ability to turn the resonance up without losing bass frequencies – retaining your original harmonics in a way that most filters cannot.
Featuring an ergonomic control panel, the PF3 features two filter channels each with CV, Frequency, Resonance, Level and Dry/Wet controls as well as a fixed-rotary control for toggling between filter modes. With stereo I/O connectivity as well as a modulation CV input (for both channels), the PF3 is the ultimate desktop filter for sound shaping. Another unique feature of the PF3 is the US1208 chips. These unique chips are highly sensitive which results in some anomalies from filter to filter, which plays to your advantage when using the filter in stereo mode.
You can convert the PF3 into a 24dB filter when connecting multiple units within a series. You can achieve some unique effects by experimenting with different modes and assigning them to each channel. Two Link switches allow you to link CV/Frequency parameters to control a single filter, or both filters 1 and 2. Taking your sound design capabilities a step further, the PF3 also features an integrated noise generator (pre-filter) which can be used to blend noise into the audio signal. Choose between Pink/White noise and use the 'Level' and 'Balance' control to dial in your noise with maximum precision.
