At the core of VS are graphical shaders called 'materials' which render beautiful geometry in real-time, based on the unique parameters of each material. Pre-loaded with 50 materials, you can create, combine, customise and even create your own displays. A bank of 35 factory presets is included to get you up and running straight away, letting you create beautiful visuals that marry your performance for a harmonious and experimental experience.
In principal, VS - Visual Synthesizer is an additive synthesizer but with a twist. The oscillators do not produce sound but instead produce visual representations of sound. For this reason, oscillators are named materials and each material maintains a distinctive visual reaction to incoming MIDI and audio. Each material is then loaded into layers, of which there are eight polyphonic layers with four voices per layer.
A layer is a polyphonic synth engine, allowing each material to be performed by multiple voices simultaneously. Different voices each have a distinctive tonal characteristic, altering the response of a material within a layer, enabling deep customisation and creative possibilities.
